I ran across this as being the plot for Episode II and sources have claimed this to be 100% true.
"In Episode 2, there is a galactic crisis. Hundreds of solar systems have withdrawn from the Republic, along with the Techno-Union, the Intergalactic Bank Clan, and the Trade Federation! They are currently in open rebellion against the Republic under the leadership of....the former Jedi Master, Count Dooku! The rebels are in control of vast technology and droid armies; civil war seems imminent! The peace-loving citizens of the Republic are nervous and scared. Chancellor Palpatine proposes that only a clone army would be large enough and powerful enough to defend the Republic. In fact, I believe that the explosion in the beginning of the film that claims the life of Padmé's handmaiden, Cordé, is thought to be a rebel act of terrorism. "Once the conflict on Geonosis takes place at the end of the film, the entire galaxy is at war! Civil war erupts! At the end of the film, the Clonetroopers are sent througout the galaxy to combat the Rebellion. The rebel leader, Count Dooku, escapes Geonosis, and the civil war goes into Episode 3.... Because the Clonetroopers will be the saviors of the Republic, the civil war will come to be known as the 'Great Clone War'!" |

Not to slant you or anything pal, but I seriously doubt that's the case. There is a lot of proven-true information out there that would give that theory little or no recognition, i.e, public reaction to clones. If you remember, through all the books (I suppose they aren't canon, as such, but it would be true reaction), the public opinion of clones is very low, and for Palpatine to actually be able to produce them, it would take a -LOT- to get people to agree. The fact is, during Episode II, a lot of -fact- suggests that the Empire will rise in that episode alone. Anakin turns to the Dark Side, -after-, the Clone Wars, and accoring to George Lucas himself, this is Episode II. I can't remember the article entirely, but the gist of it is that Anakin turns to the Dark Side after becoming big-headed over his part in the victory in the Clone Wars. Of course, nothing is set in stone, and I think none of us should take -anything- for fact until we've seen the movie.

It's true, it's all true.
(Well, except that Palpatine does not propose the clone army, Obi Wan *discovers* it and the Jedi decide to use it, so as not to be completely wiped out)

that would be just like george lucas, make you think that
the clones are the bad guys (or bad made up people) and then he turns it around and they are the good guys(or good made up people)

Well, Obi-Wan did say that Anakin was a hero of the Clone Wars, so that definately indicates that his turn to the dark side occurs after the wars. VP sounds right in that the clones are created to fight against the rising "dark forces" trying to overtake the Republic. And it makes sense that Palpy would suggest something like that. After all, his people "trust" him to do what is right...when we (as the audience) know that he is up to no good. So, he could feasibly suggest the Clone warriors as a "good" thing for his people, while all the time knowing that he has a darker purpose for the clones...to wipe out the Jedi!

I'm not much more than an interpreter and not very good at telling stories. But, what I told you was true, from a certain point of view.
I'm not guaranteeing that this info is 100 percent true. All I'm saying is that the site that I got this from is very careful about the sources that send in scoops. They will check and double check these scoops to see if there is any truth to them and if it turns out that it is false, they will report it to be so. So far, this little piece of info has yet to be disproved and it sounds like a logical plot to me so I posted it. I really don't care if you don't believe it or not. |

just the facts
Frankly I think nothing is known for sure. George Lucas is famous for letting false plots and scrips out into the public. People thought all kinds of things about episode I and most all of it wound up being false. Point is dont believe everything you hear or read.
