Anakin and his mother Shmi were sold as a payment of a debt to a toydarian junk dealer named Watto.

  Anakin lives a somehow happy and almost normal life for a slave boy, he works in Watto's workshop on all kind of stuff like cleaning droids, repairing craft or just helping Watto with customers needing parts for their spacecrafts.

  One day Anakin knew some people who will turn his life forever. A few interesting customers walk by Watto's junkyard looking for a replacement hyperdrive piece. That was the day when Anakin meet a jedi master named Qui-Gon Jinn, a beautiful maiden named Padmé, an astromech droid R2-D2 and a clumsy and funny gungan named Jar Jar Binks.

  When a sandstorm struck Tatooine, Anakin offered shelter for the interesting group. There having dinner the jedi master sensed something special about Anakin and with the consent of Shmi, the boy offered his help to obtain the precious repairment piece when Watto refused to take Republic credits. Anakin decided to compete on a pod racing contest held on Boonta Eve. Qui-Gonn also discovered that the boy had an incredible affinity with the Force itself and believed he was destined to be the "chosen one" who will bring balance to the Force.

  In a against all odds race, Anakin won and the pieces where obtained then with a great grief he decided to join the group toward Coruscant and begin his jedi training. On the ship he also meet Obi-Wan Kenobi, a young brash "Padawan" or jedi apprentice who will later became his mentor.

  On Coruscant, Anakin was interviewed by the Jedi Council, specially by Yoda, who warned him against fear. Yoda also sensed something clouded and dangerous about the boy and warned Qui-Gonn about it, the jedi master decided to take the child saying that his last apprentice Obi-Wan was ready to face the trials to become a jedi knight.

  However there wasnt time to waste, the two jedi and the boy have to return to Naboo to help Queen Amidala defeat the greedy Trade Federation who took the planet by force.

  Almost by "accident" young Anakin got inside the cockpit of a N-1 Starfighter and got himself in the middle of the action of the planetary battle to destroy the trade federation controlled space station, there Anakin knocked out the main reactor, and without it the entire battle droid army were helpless.

  However, after defeating an evil Sith warrior in an amazing lightsaber duel, Obi-Wan Kenobi promised to his dying master Qui-Gon Jinn, that he will take the training of the young Skywalker on his own. After discussing it with Yoda, the Jedi master on behalf of the council, gave Kenobi the permission to take the boy as his Padawan jedi apprentice.
